- You can contribute to our success in raising the funds neccessary to construct a new addition, renovate the existing building and make it fully accessible to all.
- The existing Carnegie Library is the last such building in a urban area within the Bruce County Library system that has not been updated to current library needs.
- The Bruce County Library estimates the current and projected future space needs to be approximately 6,000 square feet of gross area, using an estimated population base of 8,500 for Port Elgin and Saugeen Township.
- Our proposed expansion is approximately 3,500 square feet.
- The existing Carnegie building is designated as a Heritage Building and will be treated with great respect for all aspects of the renovation.
- The Town of Saugeen Shores and Bruce County Public Library have formed this two-way partnership.
- Bruce County is providing $55,000 for book stacks and furniture.
- The Community along with the Town of Saugeen Shores, Bruce County Public Library and your Fundraising Team will make the project a reality.
- Proposed date of construction to begin Spring 2008.
